Description

I work in painting, drawing, music, film, performance and installation.

The pictures, the songs, the films function by themselves, are unique artefacts, autonomic statements, yet one medium latently exists within the others, acts as a contextual extension to the others; but always with its own qualities, its own language, importance and truth. As formal abstraction of quoted reality, drawing and painting can be the film still of my film; on paper/canvas frozen scenes. My public surroundings and private environment provide the setting for my work. I appropriate public places and subject them to my persona. I concentrate on the autobiographical and, furthermore, with themes that I consider important. My observation is intuitive and intensely personal, as is the formal rendering of my interpretation. My drawing and painting is not bound by realism, instead freedom of the personal gesture carries the formal into the realm of the figurative.

I developed a life-sized 3-dimensional storyboard which I used in my film „Autosafari“: I painted my autocar in life-size on a white wall with a niche. In there I used a folding chair as the driver-seat. So I changed the 2-dimensional storyboard to a 3-dimensional storyboard. There I sat down and started the engine, the film, the story, the journey, my "Autosafari". It´s both – autobiographical and fantastic! I combined real and animated film to oneiric images accompanied by my music.

Many of my works are an alternative to existing experiences of reality, and accordingly, a focusing of reality that is happening aside common human perception.  Not always everything is recognisable at first glance. There is more to it than meets the eye.

Anyway – the cat turns the night into day.
